An outing to Sukleen- Recycling Plastic
Last Friday, the children enjoyed the field trip to Sukleen. The objective behind this visit was to observe how plastic is recycled as an extension to our previous unit Save the Earth. This recycling branch is one of the very few in Lebanon.
The children were led in small groups by a supervisor who explained the process of recycling plastic. After that, the children asked interesting and meaningful questions. Tamara O suggested that people who do not recycle should be fined. Jad asked if the trash bins are cleaned regularly and how hygiene is handled.
Many suggestions were made on creating more awareness and adding more recycling bins in the neighborhoods to get people used to recycling as a 'practice' and a way of life. We were told that these children are the hopes for our future; when they grow up they'll be the change. We believe that change begins with us TODAY!
